What Is Lumecca IPL?

Lumecca is a next-generation intense pulsed light (IPL) procedure. Our providers use it to treat pigmented and vascular lesions and improve your skin’s clarity and overall complexion. The device emits powerful pulses of light in the treatment area. Your skin’s pigmented lesions and blood vessels absorb the light. The heat causes them to break down, and your body clears them away naturally.

Your Consultation

Before your Lumecca procedure, you’ll have a private consultation at our Manhattan medical spa. We’ll assess your skin, review your concerns, and talk to you about what Lumecca can and cannot accomplish. From there, we’ll craft a bespoke treatment plan exclusively for you—one that meets your unique needs and may include complementary procedures, like a medical-grade facial or dermal fillers—for a comprehensive rejuvenation.

Your Lumecca IPL Treatment

One of our highly trained providers will administer your Lumecca IPL treatment in a private treatment room at our luxurious Upper East Side medical spa. To begin, we will clean your face to remove any moisturizer or makeup. During the actual treatment, you will wear special eyewear to protect your eyes from the intense light.

From there, your provider will apply a protective cooling gel to the treatment area and use the Lumecca IPL device to deliver pulses of light. As the device moves over your skin, there will be bright flashes of light that feel like a mild elastic sensation. The treatment will take just 30 minutes, and you can return to your daily routine right away.

Your Results

You may experience redness and a slight warming sensation for about an hour or two after your treatment. During the next two days, you may see a darkening of pigmented spots. In the following week, these lesions will flake off, revealing a more even skin tone. If you treat vascular lesions with Lumecca, the vein may blanch or change color before disappearing in a few days. Your results will continue to improve over the next several weeks, and you’ll see the optimal improvement a few months after completing your recommended treatment series. You can expect to see more even skin, reduced pigmentation, and better skin texture.
